Nun war die zwar auch kein Stan­dard­mod­ell, doch selb­st beim Blick auf die Liste der Fea­tures (»brass-trimmed halo­gen heat­ing ele­ments, glass globes and bam­boo pad­dles«) erscheint der Preis von 20.000 Dol­lar nicht real­is­tis­ch­er. Doch Herr Ega­mi hat­te natür­lich insofern recht, als es nicht um die Tech­nik geht, son­dern das Ergeb­nis. Es geht um guten Kaf­fee. Und in diesem Fall ist tat­säch­lich kein Espres­so gemeint, der — außer in Finn­land — den klas­sis­chen Fil­terkaffe mehr und mehr ver­drängt. Nun habe ich wed­er 20.000 Dol­lar zu viel auf dem Kon­to, noch genü­gend Platz für Jay Egamis Mas­chine. Doch ich habe ein Faible für Kaf­fee und bin neugierig auf Brüh­meth­o­d­en jen­seits von Omas Porzel­lan­fil­ter oder der oblig­a­torischen Bialet­ti. Und genau hier kommt die Aero­Press ins Spiel.
